When food can be fatal: part two

Here is the second part of the program.

We are in the process of getting the videos of this so that we can show all those that we interact with. Just so it hits it home to them the consequences of when things go wrong.

When food can be fatal - Sunday Program Transcript

“HELEN DALLEY: It’s a parent’s nightmare. Your 7-year-old is at school camp in a remote part of Sydney’s outskirts fun and games supposed to be the order of the day. But something goes horribly wrong. One minute your child is happy, healthy. The next minute, quite literally, he is at death’s door, fighting desperately for his life.”

I just had to include this transcript of the 2 part Channel 9 Sunday program that aired in Australia recently. This is what has sparked off a spate of news articles, and the fact that Hamidur’s court case is currently underway.

National Restaurant Association Joins Food Allergy Buddy

“The National Restaurant Association today announced its recent collaboration with Phil Lempert, NBC’s “Today” Show food editor also known as the “Supermarket Guru,” to promote the Food Allergy Buddy ( FAB ) Dining Card program. This program underscores the restaurant industry’s continuing efforts to meet the needs of its customers and promote its proactive commitment to food allergy safety.”

Well this is an interesting story to read.

I still feel that if you have anaphylaxis no matter what system you have in place, if you eat out and have food prepared by those that are not familiar with your needs, dining card or not, be prepared for a trip to the hospital. Trace elements are just as dangerous and all it takes is a contaminated utensil or surface.
