    tips for resturants.

    1) try to think of safer alternative resturants, for instance a dairy allergic might consider a vegan restaurant.

    2)ring ahead if possible.

    3) eat early, so that kitchen is cleaner, and staff have more time to pay attention to you!

    4) if you arent happy with staff replies or menu, get up and leave.

    5) allergy cards in your own language to hand over firmly underscore allergy details, as you explain the allergy situation.

    6) order plain boring food that you can see. like steak and jacket potato.

    7) if in a large party , and food isnt safe, bring your own food , and just buy drinks.
some restaurants would prefer that, rather than deal with scary allergy issues. Also they are stil making money from the large group you are with.
its worth remembering that sometimes its not the meal thats important , its people you are with that make the evening.

I am sure there are a few I have missed out on this list, so feel free to add loads more!!

    Hi Sarah

What a star! Those are great tips, thank you for sharing those. I think they are so good I’ll mention them on the next episode.

Aaron, just wanted to say this was a great episode. Well done and informative! We only have to avoid peanuts & tree nuts and successfully at a Burger King in Connecticut a month or two ago. That worked for us b/c they only have nuts in 3 items and the nuts come in packages which would be opened by the customer, not the restaurant. And there does not appear to be any other chance of cross-contact with nuts or peanuts. even so, our usual approach is to just eat at home. It is a lot less scary!

    Hi All,
avoiding is sometimes quite difficult. In 2002 I was allergic to almost all food. Now we found a system that is able to treat allergies very quick and effective, called BioFast Allergy Free System. We have amazing results and a person needs only 3-5 sessions. It works so good that we give a 5 year guarantee for all treated allergies.

  5. sarah Says:

I not impressed that bojan has to advertise her site here.

i do hope her 5yr guarantee stands up in court, and is a comfort when a ‘cure’ ends up in a life threatening situation.

Sarah yes I will do an episode on this topic. As we know, there is a difference between levels of allergies, and most of the alternate allergy treatments out there are not for anaphylaxis sufferers.

Their websites should be very clear on this, if not then no guarantee is going to help them.
