Until that point a parent had to be extra vigilant when reading labels and go the extra step of calling the manufacturer to inquire about things like starch, natural flavors, flour, etc. Now they must tell you on the label if the top 8 are in any of these generic names for ingredients. We are still diligent in reading labels, but at least now the new laws save a me a phone call or e-mail to the manufacturer. Our labeling laws weren’t changed until Jan. 2006.
